VELVET VIXON
Winter to Spring 2016-2017 Trend Alert: Velvet
By Alexandra Renee Scott
My stylist/fashion guru/good girlfriend Alexandra Renee Scott talks about how you can still incorporate velvet into your wardrobe this spring!
Rich velvet has staged a major comeback and I'm loving it! Fall 2016's largest trend continues into Spring 2017. Velvet was spotted on almost every catwalk during last season's fashion week. Prada, Fendi, Gucci to name a few. Though different in aesthetics, all showed summer-y versions of velvet: Slip dresses, skirts, tank tops, bra tops, chokers and handbags. When you think of velvet, you usually think of a typical holiday lux fabric. It has reinvented itself for Spring 2017. The texture is available in different cuts versus the typical Mary Janes and structured blazer we're used to seeing. Lavender velvet was seen throughout Victoria Beckham's spring 2017 show while Sies Marjan opted for vibrants oranges, yellows and gold. I took inspiration from them to create these looks below!
Fabric too hot or heavy for the spring/summer months? Here's our chic way to incorporate your inner 90's babe Cher Horowitz. Velvet is no longer just meant for winter months.
